The National Film Council for the Department of Information present a war organisation of industry production. Directed by Ralph Smart. Commentary by Harry Dearth. The formation of the National Council for clothes styling from fourteen people representing trade unions, designers and the public. Members of the council include Gladys Moncrief, Mrs Alice Jackson (editor of the "Women's Weekly") and Mrs Forde wife of the Deputy Prime Minister the chairman of the council was Mr Desmond Minister for the war organisation of industry. The council had drafted a set of rules for fashion designers to follow which would save on material and on labour. The film opens with a shot of Parliament House in Canberra, shows scenes in offices, introduces the council members, shows them meeting together, and moves to scenes of industry in textile factories. In a clothing store, models pose alternately in examples of "allowed" and "not allowed" dress styles.
