Julien Temple to open FOCAL's 'Business of Archives' Seminar
Acclaimed filmmaker Julien Temple will deliver the keynote speech at FOCAL International's 'Business of Archives' seminar this Friday 28th Sept at Pullman London St. Pancras Hotel, London.

'Following the premiere of his latest epic documentary film London: The Modern Babylon, it is a delight to welcome Julien Temple to our seminar,' said FOCAL's Chair Sue Malden. 'Julien's use of archive footage, music, feature film clips and interviews to illustrate London's modern history is remarkable and uplifting, so it is fitting that he should open a seminar dedicated to the business and survival of the footage archives.'

Temple is no stranger to the use of archive footage - his documentary films, The Filth & The Fury, Glastonbury, Requiem for Detroit?, Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten, amongst many others, have all made heavy use of footage to tell their stories. He has conveyed his love of footage with the words, 'Dive into the archive and drown. Let the images hypnotise you and speak for themselves!'

FOCAL International's seminar addresses the challenges to footage and content archives, such as business models, marketing and branding, how to use footage in productions plus proposed changes toᅠcopyright likely to impact on the archive business.
